My recent novel, MANHATTAN CROSSING or SPUYTEN DUYVIL STATION has been hailed as “the perfect novel for anyone favorable to introspective characters with honest insights as they navigate the difficult issues of our time.” Diversity is a key theme as I explore bigotry, sexual assault, and AIDS as the three protagonists travel Manhattan Island over eight days during the December holidays. Although the content and themes are difficult, the three protagonists and their families show optimism, bravery, and humor making the book not only an important but inspirational read.
As a writer and performer, I was a member of Full Circle, a Feminist Performing Arts Collective which toured the Northeast in the late 1970's. Other theatrical credits include JAIL CRIES which I performed at the Royal Court Repertory Theatre in NYC and many colleges and prisons; FOOTPRINTS – a play about the history of women in the Albany, NY area sponsored by the Bicentennial Commission; The END GRAND JURY ABUSE OPERA; and ON A WAGON BOUND FOR MARKET, performed at the National Women's Studies Association Conference in Boston.
I'm most proud of my work in the anti-war, anti-white supremacy, feminist, and lesbian and gay movements over the course of my decades.
I’ve experienced most “money” jobs including teaching composition at a community college; reassembling tax laws for Western Union; delivering fresh vegan food to NYC; stripping furniture; delivering pizzas; and teaching semicolons to NYS workers.
Currently, I live in Woodstock, New York with the trees, animals, and comfortable magic created with other aging hippies.
